Students Renew Their Pledge to the Leader of the Revolution at a Gathering Outside the University of Tehran

On the evening of Wednesday, Aban 6, a group of students and young people, at a spontaneous gathering in front of the main gate of the University of Tehran following the publication of Ayatollah Sayyid Mojtaba Khamenei’s reply to students’ letters, affirmed their commitment to this pledge and to striving for the progress and might of Iran.

In this message, the Leader of the Revolution described the students’ resolve, determination and sense of responsibility for building the future as the basis for a shared covenant between the Leader of the Revolution and the youth, and stressed the need to be equipped with knowledge, faith, self-purification and the teachings of the Quran and the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them). He also described redoubled efforts to strengthen the power and might of Iran as a prerequisite for advancing toward the summits of progress and Islamic-Iranian civilization.

At the ceremony, Hojatoleslam val-Muslimin Rostami, head of the Office of the Supreme Leader’s Representation at Universities, read out the text of the Leader of the Revolution’s reply to the students’ letters.

Referring to the content of the message, Rostami said: “The Leader of the Revolution, in the position of a kind father and a compassionate guide, has reminded the students of a number of points in the form of a shared covenant.”

He added: “Self-improvement and attention to spirituality, striving for scientific progress and for solving problems, strengthening society and the country, and moving along the path of building a stronger Iran are among the most important expectations the Leader of the Revolution has of students.”

The head of the Office of the Supreme Leader’s Representation at Universities also described the new Islamic civilization as one of the horizons before students on the path of the country’s progress.

Later in the ceremony, a number of students, professors and representatives of student organizations delivered speeches.

The students and young people present at the gathering also declared their readiness to act on the guidance of the Leader of the Revolution and affirmed their commitment to this pledge and to striving to achieve the goals of the country’s progress and might.

According to media reports, similar ceremonies were held at the same time in many cities and universities across the country.
